SPOKESMAN SAYS QUIBOLOY ENDORSEMENT
ADDS NEW DIMENSION TO GIBO’S SURGING CAMPAIGN
Sunday night’s endorsement of Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gibo Teodoro by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the six million-strong Kingdom of Jesus Christ: The Name Above Every Name has added a new dimension to his already surging campaign—and that will further ensure his victory come May 10, according to his spokesman, former press secretary Mike Toledo.
Toledo, who is director of the G1BO 2010 Media Bureau, said that “apart from his two secret weapons—the youth vote and the formidable grassroots machinery of the ruling party—Gibo can now count on another facet of Philippine electoral politics that will further spell his poll victory, and this is the command votes of certain leaders outside of the political mainstream.”
These leaders are able to deliver votes to their chosen candidates aspiring for elective posts because their respective groups’ practice bloc voting, he said.
Pastor Quiboloy’s congregation, for instance, boasts a membership of six million Filipinos spread all over the Philippines and more than a hundred other countries worldwide, he said.
The former three-term congressman from Tarlac province has been drawing huge rallies everywhere he goes, even without celebrities in tow, Toledo said.
“Nowhere were these spontaneous outpourings of support more evident than in Gibo’s recent sorties in the Southern Philippines and in the Visayas, including Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Davao, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro, and Sarangani Province.
In Cebu, where he drew more than 100,000 people in different rallies and engagements during a two-day swing across the province.
Last weekend, 128 governors, legislators and candidates for gubernatorial and House of Representatives seats also met at the Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu City to reiterate their 100% support for Gibo.
After signing the ”The Cebu Declaration”, the delegates, vowed to continue their support for Gibo’s presidential bid “to the very end” , and rally their respective constituencies to break their silence and make their support felt for the Lakas-Kampi-CMD bet in the last week leading to Election Day.
Pastor Quiboloy made his announcement during the Kingdom of Jesus Christ’s annual Thanksgiving and Worship concert in Davao City, which was attended by more than 50,000 members.
It was beamed live worldwide over the group’s Sunshine Media Network.
“Tonight let it be known, and to all Filipinos, that the Almighty Father has appointed the president for this nation, he is no other than Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro,” said Quiboloy, the “self-appointed Son of God” and founder of this congregation that boasts some six million members spread across the Philippines and over a hundred more countries worldwide.
Quiboloy endorsed Gibo as the best president to lead the country in the next six years.
“With this proclamation, I may either sink or swim, but I know this decision is best for the nation,” the pastor said.
“We feel that Gibo’s sterling qualifications, his background in government service, and clear, specific platform of government, are now helping fuel his growing surge in the final period of the campaign season,” Toledo said.
“It helps a great deal that Gibo is different from the rest of the candidates because he is conducting a positive campaign—sans the mudslinging and dirty tricks being done by the other rival camps,” he added.
Toledo noted that Gibo’s positive campaign was one of the factors cited by Quiboloy last weekend in endorsing the former defense secretary.
In his speech during the group’s annual Thanksgiving and Worship concert at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ: The Name Above Every Name compound in Catitipan, Davao City, Quiboloy said that, “This man stayed above the fray of politics of negativity. He stayed away from the politics of hate and animosity. He has kept himself on a platform of high caliber campaigning. He did not dive into the quagmire of traditional mudslinging.”
“He is the only candidate that based his campaign on positive change, reconciliation, competence and solutions. His platform is clear cut, realistic and is centered on the economy, education and health, transparent governance and political reform. We need this man to become our leader,” the pastor said.
He also said that, “Filipino people, your cries and prayers have been heard by the heavens. The Father has given us a leader who will rise above personal issues, a leader who exudes political maturity and integrity. He need not be as seasoned as the others, he need not be as popular as his opponents, he need not come from the top, in fact he rises from the bottom.
Quiboloy said that, “He may be a dark horse that comes from behind. He is the leader at the Almighty Father’s heart. For he has seen the heart of this man. When negativity and mudslinging was the norm of the day, this man had these things to say, and I quote: “I don’t want to run a campaign based on negativity. A lot of people have lost a lot of things, we have to inspire them to pick up the pieces of their lives. I will run on a platform aimed towards healing past wounds. No more vengeance, no more political bickerings.”
“I reiterate more than ever before, this country badly needs healing from deep political wounds. We need a national leader who is mature enough to tear down the barricades of hatred... Gilbert Teodoro is that kind of a leader. He is our country’s modern leader, a man of subtle intelligence, of sure discernment, of positive outlook in life. He is a strong young leader that embodies the quality of a true Filipino we have been longing to have. This is why the entire Kingdom Nation, with the Father’s guidance, through his appointed son, has chosen Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro for president.” the pastor added. -30-

GIBO BULLISH ON GETTING 1M VOTES IN CEBU
CARCAR CITY—Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard bearer Gibo Teodoro has expressed confidence here that the Garcia clan and his other allies here will make good on their commitment to work on delivering in his favor come May 10 some one million or 60% of the 1.8 million votes in this vote-rich province.
Buoyed by the overwhelming support that he had received from local leaders and ordinary Cebuanos alike during his two-day Cebu campaign swing, Gibo replied—when asked in a chance interview about Cebu providing the “swing” votes—that “Yung sa Cebu, hindi swing votes (The votes here are not swing votes) but main votes.”
On the possibility of snagging 60 percent of the roughly 1.8 million votes up for grabs in Cebu—as had been committed the day before by Rep. Pablo Garcia of the third congressional district—Gibo said: “Mangyayari. Malakas ang leadership ng One Cebu Party, ni Governor Gwen [Garcia], at sampu ng mga kasamahan niya dito (It will happen because of the strong leadership of One Cebu, of Governor Gwen Garcia and of all her partymates and allies here).”
The governor and congressman are the respective founder-president and secretary-general of Once Cebu, which has, since its founding in 2004, emerged as the most dominant local party in the over 400-year history of the province.
Gibo said his confidence is likewise buoyed by the solid backing he enjoys from other political kingpins in Cebu like Rep. Ramonito “Red” Durano VI, who declared Cebu a “Gibo Country”; Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, and Lapu-Lapu Mayor Arturo Radaza, both of whom also declared their unflinching support for Gibo.
“Matagal na kaming nagsama ng pamilya nila Congressman at Mayor Durano (Congressman and Mayor Durano, and I go a long way),” he said.
This was Gibo’s answer when asked by reporters to comment on the pronouncement of Rep. Garcia in Toledo City the other day that his family and One Cebu are campaigning hard for Gibo so they could deliver 60 percent of the province’s 1.8 million votes in his favor in next month’s balloting.
Rep. Garcia also told reporters in Toledo City that a new survey commissioned by One Cebu will be out next week and Gibo is expected to be No. 1 in this mock poll.
In 2004, it is believed that President Arroyo defeated her chief poll rival, the late Fernando Poe Jr., partly on the back of the one million votes that her local allies led by the Garcias had delivered to her in that year’s presidential race.
In rallies in Argao and Carcar City, Gov. Garcia called on all Cebuanos to “totally support Gibo so that we’ll have total reconciliation in the country.”
In a two-day swing across the province last Tuesday and Wednesday, more than 100,000 people combined flocked to the different rallies and other engagements of the former defense secretary.
The campaign offensive was capped Wednesday night by the attendance of more than 30,000 people in Mandaue City, who braved rainfall to listen to Gibo talk about the road to change and a better Philippines.
Gov. Garcia, Rep. Garcia and their father, Deputy Speaker Pablo John Garcia led the mammoth crowd in an overwhelming show of support for the former defense secretary that bolstered the Garcias’ claim that this vote-rich province is “Gibo country.”
She noted in her speeches that the decision of their family and of One Cebu to choose Gibo as the local party’s presidential candidate passed through a careful and thorough selection process.
“It was a tough and heavy decision,” she said.
Gov. Garcia noted that they had applied the principles of One Cebu in the decision to support Gibo.
“The principles of One Cebu demands excellence, competence, integrity and good governance. And above all, the principles of One Cebu are founded on a very cohesive bond that binds us all, [which is] unity,” she said. -30-
